Introduction: After World War I, the United States went through a period of transition. Rapid changes in the economic and social structure of the country dominated this period, leading the U.S. through the Progressive Era (Roaring Twenties), the Great Depression and World War II. Our collection encompasses the political, social, and economic aspects of the era including events, key figures, cultural phenomena, and political movements.
Questions for Inquiry
What effects did the Great Depression have on government policies and public attidudes?
Why did Japan decide to attack the US Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor?
What was appeasement? When did it become clear that that policy had failed?
